Mazak fiber laser machines can cut mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and brass. Specific material compatibility varies by model — the Optiplex HP handles carbon and stainless steel plates up to 2 inches thick, while tube laser models like the FT-150 NEO and FT-250 process round, square, and rectangular profiles in all of the above materials.

Mazak laser machines span a wide power range to match varying production needs. The Optiplex Ez offers 4, 6, or 8 kW; the Optiplex NEO ranges from 4 to 20 kW; the Optiplex HP reaches up to 30 kW; the Optiplex 4020 Bevel delivers 20 kW; the FT-150 NEO provides 3 kW for tube cutting; and the FT-250 offers 6 kW for multi-axis tube and pipe processing.

Mazak 2D laser machines like the Optiplex series cut flat sheet metal in a single plane, making them ideal for sheet and plate fabrication. Mazak 3D laser machines use multi-axis configurations to cut tubes, pipes, and structural profiles at complex angles — enabling weld preparation, hole patterning, and compound cuts that would require multiple setups on a 2D system.

Yes. All Mazak laser models featured in our lineup are automation-ready. The Optiplex series supports sheet changers, sorting cells, and automated nesting software. The FT-250 tube laser includes advanced bundle loader automation with automatic calibration, nozzle cleaning, and seam detection for lights-out production. Automation integration support is available through A.W. Miller's engineering team.

Most Mazak laser machines use the Mazatrol SmoothLx CNC system, which features a 21.5-inch touchscreen interface, graphical and conversational programming, and real-time monitoring. Tube laser models use the SmoothTUBE CNC, while the Optiplex 4020 Bevel uses the SmoothBEVEL CNC, which programs both bevel and 2D cuts from a single integrated interface with CAD/CAM and nesting support.

For tube and pipe cutting, the Mazak FT-150 NEO and FT-250 are purpose-built solutions. The FT-150 NEO handles round pipes up to 6" diameter and square profiles up to 4.92" with a 3 kW fiber laser. The FT-250 scales up to 10" round and 8" square profiles with a 6 kW laser, a 2.5D bevel head, and a 13-position rotary tool changer for drilling, tapping, and chamfering in a single setup.
